Trim / Cut Video

Cut the start and end off a video, or keep any part of it, by setting the start and end while you watch. Fast mode cuts in seconds with no quality loss.

Settings

100% private: the video is processed by your own browser and never uploaded. The first time, your browser downloads the free video engine (about 9 MB, only once). Long or HD videos take a while on phones — keep this page open until it finishes.

How to use

  1. 1Choose your video. It opens in the player so you can watch it.
  2. 2Drag the Start and End sliders, type the seconds, or play the video and tap “Start here” / “End here”.
  3. 3Press “Play selection” to check exactly what will be kept.
  4. 4Choose Fast (seconds, full quality) or Exact (frame-accurate, slower), then press “Cut video” and download.

FAQ

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The video is processed by your own browser, on your phone or computer, with a free video engine (ffmpeg). It never reaches our server, so private and family videos stay private.

What's the difference between Fast and Exact?

Fast copies the video without re-encoding, so it's done in seconds with no quality loss. Videos can only be cut cleanly at a keyframe, so the clip may start up to a couple of seconds early. Exact re-encodes the clip, so it starts and ends on the exact frame you chose, but it takes longer.

Can I keep a part from the middle?

Yes. Set the start to where the part begins and the end to where it finishes. Everything before and after is removed.

Does trimming lower the quality?

Fast mode keeps the original quality exactly. Exact mode re-encodes at high quality, so the difference is very hard to see.

Which video formats can I trim?

MP4, MOV (iPhone), WEBM, MKV and most others. Fast mode keeps the original format when it can; Exact mode always gives an MP4.
