Video to Audio (MP3)

Take the sound out of a video and save it as an MP3 or M4A audio file, for songs, waz, lectures or voice messages.

Settings

100% private: the video is processed by your own browser and never uploaded. The first time, your browser downloads the free video engine (about 9 MB, only once). Long or HD videos take a while on phones — keep this page open until it finishes.

How to use

  1. 1Choose your video, or drag it in.
  2. 2Pick MP3 (plays everywhere) or M4A (copies the original sound with no quality loss when possible).
  3. 3For MP3, choose the quality: 192 kbps for music, 128 kbps for speech, waz or lectures.
  4. 4Press “Save the audio”, listen to it, then download.

FAQ

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The video is processed by your own browser, on your phone or computer, with a free video engine (ffmpeg). It never reaches our server, so private and family videos stay private.

MP3 or M4A — which should I choose?

MP3 works on every phone, car stereo and music app. M4A (AAC) usually copies the sound straight out of the video without re-encoding, so it's instant and keeps the original quality; it plays on all modern phones and computers.

Which quality should I choose for MP3?

192 kbps sounds great for music and songs. 128 kbps is plenty for speech, waz, lectures and podcasts, and makes a smaller file. 320 kbps is the maximum.

Can I get the audio from a YouTube or Facebook video?

This tool works on video files that are on your device. Use it on videos you made or have permission to use.

The tool says my video has no sound. Why?

Some videos (screen recordings, GIF-style clips) have no sound track at all, so there's nothing to save.
