FAQ
What size is a Facebook cover photo?
Facebook shows the cover at 851×315 pixels on computers. This tool saves it at twice that size (1702×630) so it stays sharp on phones and large screens. Phones show only the middle part, so keep text and faces inside the safe area.
What is the best size for a YouTube thumbnail and channel banner?
A thumbnail is 1280×720 pixels. A channel banner is 2560×1440, but only the middle 1546×423 shows on every device, so turn on “Show safe area” and keep your name and logo inside it.
Which size is right for an Instagram post or a story?
Square posts are 1080×1080, portrait posts 1080×1350 (they take more space in the feed), and stories and reels 1080×1920. The same 1080×1920 size works for a WhatsApp status.
What is the difference between Fill and Fit?
Fill covers the whole frame and crops the edges that don't fit; you choose what stays by dragging and zooming. Fit keeps the entire image with nothing cut off, and fills the empty space with a blurred copy of the image or a colour you pick.
Do these sizes ever change?
Yes. Platforms change their recommended sizes from time to time. These are the common sizes in use today. If a platform asks for something else, choose “Custom” and type the size.
JPG or PNG: which should I download?
JPG is smaller and right for photos. PNG keeps text and logos crisp and supports transparency, but the file is bigger. Facebook and Instagram compress both, so JPG at quality 85–90 is usually best.
