- o after a consonant is the silent inherent vowel: kemon → কেমন. Use O for ো: bOlO → বোলো. Everyday words are fixed for you: tomake → তোমাকে.
- Capitals matter: t ত / T ট, n ন / N ণ, sh শ / Sh ষ, i ি / I ী, r র / R ড়.
- Consonants typed together join: pr → প্র, rk → র্ক, kkh → ক্ষ. Put o or ` between them to keep them apart: amora → আমরা.
- Keep a word in English: wrap it in braces, {Facebook}, press Esc right after typing it, or switch to English (Ctrl + .).
How to use
- 1Click in the box and type Bangla words with English letters, the way they sound: “ami tumi” becomes “আমি তুমি” as you type.
- 2Use capitals for the second letter of a pair: T for ট, N for ণ, Sh for ষ, I for ী, O for ো. The key reference below the box lists every key.
- 3To keep a word in English, wrap it in braces like {Facebook}, press Esc right after typing it, or switch the top button to English.
- 4Press “Copy” and paste the Bangla text into Facebook, WhatsApp, Word or your design. Your text stays in the box if you come back later.
FAQ
Is this the same as Avro phonetic?
It follows the same phonetic keys most people in Bangladesh learned from Avro: k = ক, kh = খ, c = চ, ch = ছ, sh = শ, Sh = ষ, R = ড়, ng = ং, t`` = ৎ. On top of that, a built-in word list fixes everyday words automatically, so tomake gives তোমাকে and porikkha gives পরীক্ষা.
Why did “bhalo” not become “ভাল”?
Common words are spelled the modern way from the word list: bhalo → ভালো, achho → আছো, korbo → করব. If you need a different spelling, type it letter by letter with capitals, for example bhal → ভাল, or use O for ো.
How do I type conjuncts like ক্ষ, জ্ঞ, প্র and র্ক?
Type the consonants one after another without a vowel: kkh → ক্ষ, gg → জ্ঞ, pr → প্র, rk → র্ক, ndr → ন্দ্র. To stop two consonants from joining, put o or a backtick (`) between them: amora → আমরা.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. On most phone keyboards each word turns Bangla when you press space, because the keyboard holds the word until then. Turn off autocorrect suggestions for the best result. The “As you type” switch does the same on a computer if you prefer it.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The conversion happens inside your browser and nothing you type is uploaded. Your last text is remembered only in this browser so it's still there after a refresh; “Clear” removes it.
